2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

Too many times, we have thought of repentance as something only between ourselves and God.

Repentance has too long been associated merely with a change of heart, with a genuine “I’m sorry” on the spiritual level.

Too many times, repentance is associated with only confessing your sins in church.

True repentance is much more than that, true repentance involves more than just telling God you’re sorry in church and a pastor saying, "don't let no one tell you, your not saved."

True repentance involves turning around not only in the pew and pulpit, but also in the street, in your home, in your school and your place of work.

True repentance is a journey to the wilderness where we encounter people like John the Baptist, reminding us that there is someone coming into the world that will turn everything around, just as he did in Bethlehem 2000 years ago.

Matthew 3:2-4

2) And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

3) For this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Esaias, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.

4) And the same John had his raiment of camel's hair, and a leathern girdle about his loins; and his meat was locusts and wild honey.

The Word of God, is clear on the importance of repentance,

Luke 13:3 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.

Acts 17:30 And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:

It is crucial to know what repentance is and what it looks like, to repent is to turn away from sin and to turn to God and trust in the finished work of, His Son Jesus'.

It involves the altering of both the inward emotions of the mind and heart and the outward actions of the body.

Romans 12:1-2

1) I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

2) And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
