Jesus', used the Word of God, in every matter under dispute.

The strongest evidence for the authority of the Bible is the fact that Jesus used Scripture as the final court of appeal in every matter under dispute.

Mark 12:24 And Jesus answering said unto them, Do ye not therefore err, because ye know not the scriptures, neither the power of God?

Acts 5:29 Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.

The Word of God, teaches that our convictions are not to be based upon human wisdom but upon the power of God and His Spirit which He gives to those who obey Him!

John 8:31-32

31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;

32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

The problem is that human (carnal) wisdom is clearly fallible and is not a sufficient foundation for believing anything about God.

Hence our doctrinal convictions should not be based upon human wisdom.

The apostle Paul warned against such and we see that he knew this because of the written Word of God.

1 Corinthians 2:5 That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.

The true believer is to build 'line upon line' to show the truth of the matter.

God's Word, hold warnings against any traditions, customs, precepts, or laws that are in opposition to, contradictory to, that nullify (or do away with) God's commands as written in His Word.

These customs, rituals, practices are inventions and traditions of men alone, apart from God.

We must be cautious of the emptiness of the traditions of men passed down through time, even those from your own forefathers or elders "denominations".

1 Peter 1:18-19

18) Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;

19) But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:

Colossians 2:8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.

2 Thessalonians 3:6 Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly, and not after the tradition which he received of us.

The "traditions" of the apostles, where the same tradition they learned from both the written Word and the Lord Jesus', the ways of God outlined in the Old Testament.

They are adhered to, and even expounded upon, by Jesus in the New Testament.

Deuteronomy 4:1 Now therefore hearken, O Israel, unto the statutes and unto the judgments, which I teach you, for to do them, that ye may live, and go in and possess the land which the Lord God of your fathers giveth you.

Revelation 22:18 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:

Seek Him When He May Be Found
